Navka, a type of Mavka (forest nymph)

Mavka, also known as Navka or Nyavka, is a figure in Ukrainian mythology, similar to a mermaid, often depicted as a beautiful naked girl or a young woman dressed in a long white shirt with long flowing hair. According to folk beliefs, Mavkas are the souls of drowned women and girls who died without being baptized.
